Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] | Examiner Course (Seminar) - Online

General

FCL.1025(b)(2) or FCL.1025(c) requires an examiner to attend a refresher course as part of the revalidation or renewal procese. This examiner seminar full fills this requirement. An examiner refresher course (seminar) does not full fill the requirements of a senior examiner briefing, course or seminar

The examiner refresher course (seminar) is for Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] examiners and examiners holding Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] FCL.1000(c) certificates. It is conducted in conjunction with Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] Senior Examiners

Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] Approval

If you hold another EASA Member State examiner certificate then you should check with your National Aviation Authority (NAA) if this Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] examiner refresher course (seminar) is acceptable by them for revalidation or renewal before booking

Please note there are NO dual (UK CAA and Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen]) examiner courses (seminars) available

Scope

The refresher course (seminar) is designed to cover the requirements of the following examiner certificates:

  • FE(A), FIE(A), CRE(A), IRE(A)
  • TRE(SPA), SFE(SPA)

Introduction

We believe examiners should have a chance to mix with their colleagues and be able to discuss issues of mutual interest as well as being brought up to date with the latest information from EASA and the Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen]

Our course is designed to be a forum where examiners of all ages and types can express their views and exchange ideas without fear of any retribution. So by the end of the course you will be more knowledgeable and better informed so you can do your job more effectively

What must I prepare?
Before the start of the course (seminar) you will receive an email with the following information:

# 'Documents' username and password (see note 2)

# A link to the Zoom meeting code and password (see note 2)

Please check your email 'Spam/Junk' folder in addition to your 'Inbox' for the email

We have a duty of care to check your licence(s), medical and examiner certificate(s). Therefore everyone attending the course (seminar) MUST send copies of the following items prior to the start of the course (seminar)(see note 1):

# Licence(s)/FCL.900(c)

  • particularly important if you are renewing after a long lay off
  • ensure you send a clear readable copy of the licence
  • please ensure you have signed your licence 

# Examiner certificate(s)/FCL.1000(c)

  • these are normally located in your licence or maybe on a separate certificate
  • please ensure you have signed your examiner certificate(s)
  • ensure you send a clear readable copy

# Medical

  • ensure you send a clear readable copy

# Identity document e.g. passport, national identity card, photo driving licence, etc

Notes:
1. This is normally completed during the online registration. If you haven't done so please send by email (info@ontrackaviation.com)
2. This will not be issued until payment has been received in full

Refreshment breaks
Short breaks (10 minutes) will be planned between presentations to enable you to get a light refreshment and to stretch your legs. A longer break (45 minutes) will be planned for lunch time

Online Presentation
In order to gain the most from the presentations you need to be in a room without any disturbance. We recommend you use a laptop, PC or tablet and not a mobile phone.

It is a requirement to have a camera and microphone.

The internet connection should be of a good quality.

Ensure you have an external power adapter connected. Don't rely on your devices internal battery

Please check that your device name reflects your name e.g. if Steve Bloggs laptop is named 'my laptop' please change this to Steve Bloggs. When you join the course (seminar) it makes it easier to identify you

It is recommended that you download the free software; Zoom Client for Meetings (https://zoom.us/download) and familiarise yourself with the controls before attending the course (seminar). Additionally, if you are unfamiliar with this type of online meeting software we can arrange a tutorial ahead of the course (seminar)

In order for us to assist you with any technical issues on the day please supply a phone number where we can contact you. Alternatively, you can contact On-Track Aviation as our offices will be manned during the course (seminar)

Accessing the Refresher Course (Seminar) using Zoom
You will be sent a link (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87971382050?pwd=bFo5VFl6Vm), a meeting ID (879 7158 2052) and a passcode (761481) on the Friday before the date of the course (seminar). Simply paste or type the link into the address bar on your internet browser. Then follow the on screen instructions. Please change your device name to your first name and family name to facilitate identification. Enter the meeting ID and passcode when requested. You will end up in a Waiting Room

Admittance to the course (seminar) is controlled by us. It is suggested that you complete this process at least 10-15 minutes before the end of the registration period on the programme. More information can be found in the documents, under “Accessing Zoom”, which will be made available before the date of the course (seminar)

Workshop
You will be assigned to a workshop on the day. The workshop will be facilitated by a Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] Senior Examiner. The content will be based on the examiner standardisation course - examiner core knowledge.
Therefore, you might wish to review FCL.1015 including AMC and GM and Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] examiner webpage prior to attending the course (seminar)

Documents
Documentation for the course (seminar) will be available to download before the course (seminar) starts and will remain available until the completion of the course (seminar) after which it will be removed from the On-Track Aviation webpage. The username and password to access the 'Documents' will be sent to you before the course (seminar). Please note these will not be issued until payment has been received in full. There are no hard copies of the documents available


Confirmation of attendance
In order to confirm you have attended all sessions of the course (seminar) we will capture your video images during each presentation. Additionally, the course (seminar) may be recorded. If you are absent for more than 10 minutes per day (excluding planned short breaks and lunch time) you will be deemed not to have attended

Certificate of attendance
Attendance from you will be required for the whole duration of the course (seminar) including workshops. On completion you shall be sent a Certificate of Attendance a copy of which you will need to send to the Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] or your National Aviation Authority if different with your application to revalidate/renew your examiner certificate

Revalidation

(a) Conduct six skill test/proficiency check/assessments of competence within the validity of the examiner certificate (see note)

(b) Conduct one test in the final year as an observed test with a Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] inspector or senior examiner or an inspector or senior examiner of your NAA if different

(c) Attend a Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] examiner refresher course (seminar) in the final year of validity of the examiner certificate

Note: When an examiner holds more than one examiner certificate, combined revalidation of all examiner privileges may be achieved when the applicant complies with the requirements of (a), (b) and (c). However, the Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] requires the Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] examiner to have conducted 6 tests/checks/assessments per examiner privilege held (e.g. 6 as a TRE, 6 as a CRE, etc). If this requirement is not met, the examiner privilege will be removed, unless the observed test is performed for that specific privilege

Renewal

(a) Complete a skill test / proficiency check / assessment of competence as an observed or dummy test with a Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] inspector or senior examiner or an inspector or senior examiner of your NAA if different (see note)

(b) Attend a Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] examiner refresher course (seminar)

Both (a) and (b) shall be completed within 12 months prior to application to renew

Note: You must complete this item last in accordance with FCL.1030(ii)

FCL.1030
When conducting skill tests, proficiency checks and assessments of competence, examiners shall:
(i) ensure that communication with the applicant can be established without language barriers
(ii) verify that the applicant complies with all the qualification, training and experience requirements in Part FCL for the issue, revalidation or renewal of the licence, rating or certificate for which the skill test, proficiency check or assessment of competence is taken
(iii) make the applicant aware of the consequences of providing incomplete, inaccurate or false information related to their training and flight experience

Programme

The course is conducted in accordance with AMC1 FCL.1015 and FCL.1025 and will include a minimum of 6 hours of presentations and discussions. Formal sessions will allow for a presentation time of up to 45 minutes followed by 15 minutes for questions. It is an interactive programme and is designed such that you gain the maximum benefit from your time on the course. You are required to attend all sessions of the course in order to qualify for the Certificate of Attendance. A programme will be included in the 'Documents'. The subjects covered include:

  • Pilot Licensing and Regulation including the examiner.dk webpage
  • Review of the test schedules and variations of, for the LAPL, PPL, CPL, Type/Class/Instrument ratings for SP aeroplanes including SP HCA                                                                                                        
  • Review of administrative procedures for the issue, revalidation and renewal of the above   
  • Review of examiner privileges and responsibilities ‘in the field’                                           
  • Procedures for the assessment of competence for the issue, revalidation and renewal of instructorI certificates
  • Review of Forms / Flight Examiner Manual  / examiner.dk web page   
  • Vested interests of examiners
  • Feedback on test results and common reasons for failure
  • Appeal procedures under EASA and Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] regulations      
  • Briefing and debriefing techniques incorporating CRM/TEM
  • SE aeroplanes technical knowledge verbal examination
  • Additional topics as applicable

The Team

Each course (seminar) uses a team of specialist presenters all of whom have considerable experience in their particular field. During the course the highly qualified team will share with you their skill, methods and knowledge gained over many years in aviation. The attendance of each presenter is subject to availability. The team includes:

  • Simon Atkins -On-Track Aviation Limited. Simon is a Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] FIE, IRE, FE, CRE and Senior Examiner
  • Paul Barker - On-Track Aviation Limited. Paul is the Safety Manager and Compliance Monitoring Manager. He holds a PPL(A) and provides administration for the seminar
  • Mike Grierson - On-Track Aviation Limited. Mike who previously worked for the UK CAA gives us his considerable knowledge of EASA regulations
  • Lee Merritt - On-Track Aviation Limited. Lee is a Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] FIE, FE and Senior Examiner
  • Simon Mitchell- Director On-Track Aviation Limited. Simon leads the seminar administration team
  • Alan Newton - Director / Head of Training / Chief Flying Instructor On-Track Aviation Limited. Alan is a Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] FE, CRE, FIE and Senior Examiner on both land and seaplanes
  • Steve Oddy - On-Track Aviation Limited. Steve who worked for the UK CAA is a Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen] FE, FIE, CRE and IRE with many years of experience examining at all levels
