Note: This is to be carried out before the first flight of the day or after any rectification or maintenance.

COCKPIT PREPARATION

Note: On approaching the aircraft check the aircraft’s general appearance and signs of obvious problems, such as leaks. Also check the whole aircraft for hoar frost, snow or ice which must be removed from the aircraft completely. This includes the hinges and shroud gaps on the ailerons, rudder, stabilator and trim tabs.

Switch on, check operation, then switch off.

STARBOARD WING

Hinges are secure and shroud gap is clear.

Control rod locking nut is secure.

Check: No damage or distortion of surfaces

Hinges, actuating rods and static wicks are secure and undamaged.

Mass balance secure.

3. Wing Tip, Strobe and Navigation Lights ……………….………… Check

Check: Wing tip undamaged and secure.

Navigation lights undamaged and correct colour.

Strobe lights undamaged.

4. Wing Surfaces ……………………………………………………… Check

Check: Clear of snow, frost and ice.

No damage or skin distortion.

5. Fuel Tank, Vent and Drain ……………………………………… Check

Check: Contents / balance.

Cap secure.

Vent unobstructed.

Water sediment / contamination. No leaks after operation.

6. Landing Gear ………………………………………………………… Check

Check: Tyre inflation 27psi, wear and creep.

No hydraulic leaks from brake line or jack.

Brake wear and oleo extension 2.0" (50 mm).

Torque link wear and secure.

Door secure.

 FRONT FUSELAGE

BEWARE PROPELLER

1. Windscreen and OAT Probe ……………………………………… Check

Check: Clean and undamaged.

2. Oil Contents ………………………………………………………… Check

Check: Contents 6-7 quarts (Normal). Exceptionally 2 quarts + 1 quart / hour.

Filler cap secure (Finger tight only).

3. Engine Cowlings …………………………………………………… Secure

Check: Closed and secure.

4. Propeller and Spinner ……………………………………………… Check

Check: No sharp nicks or cuts to propeller blades.

Spinner is secure and undamaged.

5. Air Intakes and Alternator Belt …………………………………… Check

Check: Air intakes unobstructed.

Alternator belt undamaged and sufficient tension.

6. Exhaust Pipe ……………………………………………………… Check

Check: Undamaged and secure. BEWARE OF HOT PIPE

7. Landing Light ……………………………………………………… Check

Check: Glass undamaged.

8. Landing Gear ……………………………………………………… Check

Check: Tyre inflation 30 psi, wear and creep. No hydraulic leaks from brake line or jack.

Brake wear and oleo extension 2.75" (70 mm). Torque link wear and secure. Door secure.

9. Engine Cowlings …………………………………………………… Secure

Check: Closed and secure.

10. Fuel Drain …………………………………………………………… Check

Check: Water sediment / contamination check.

No leaks after operation.

11. Automatic Gear Extender Pressure Sensor ……………………… Check

Check: Unobstructed.

PORT WING

1. Landing Gear ………………………………………………………… Check

Check: Tyre inflation 27 psi, wear and creep.

No hydraulic leaks from brake line or jack.

Brake wear and oleo extension 2" (50 mm).

Torque link wear and secure.

Door secure.

2. Fuel Tank, Vent and Drain ………………………………………… Check

Check: Contents / balance.

Cap secure.

Vent unobstructed.

Water sediment / contamination. No leaks after operation.

3. Wing Surfaces ……………………………………………………… Check

Check: Clear of frost snow, and ice.

No damage or skin distortion.

4. Stall Warning Vane ………………………………………………… Check

Check: Free from obstructions and undamaged.

Drain and orifices clear.

5. Pitot Head …………………………………………………………… Check

Check: Undamaged and secure.

6. Wing Tip, Strobe and Navigation Lights ……………..…………… Check

Check: Wing tip undamaged and secure.

Navigation lights undamaged and correct colour.

Strobe lights undamaged.

Undamaged.

Check: Clear of frost, snow and ice

Hinges free and actuating gap free from obstructions.

Tab movement correct, hinges secure and undamaged. Skin undamaged.
